Conclusion: The product of power transformer SFZ-150000/220 has a GWP of about 38723.5 tCO2-eq and the “Use & Maintenance-Phase” is the main contributor with 96.8 % of the emissions. Even though the calculation scheme with an operation always at full load is not very likely for this device and the emissions strongly depend on the CO2 factor of the electricity mix – the “real” emissions should therefore be significantly lower – the importance of this life cycle stage can be seen clearly. Based on this knowledge special attention should be paid to an application optimized design of the whole product system and the manufacturer could do some analyses and statistics on energy consumption in that stage in the future to have result that is more accurate.
